August Feccia was born in Chiavenna Rocchetta, Piacenza Province, Italy in 1935. He was the last of twelve children in the family. Father August was ordained into priesthood on March 17, 1962, on the day of his parents' 50th anniversary. He held his first Mass in prison. That same year Father Feccia came to North America and served as an associate pastor in Chicago from 1962 to 1965. He was chaplain of the Italian American Federation from 1965 to 1970.

Father August Feccia was the founder and director of the Italian Cultural Centre in Illinois from 1970 to 1979. In 1979, he moved to Edmonton and served as a priest of the Santa Maria Goretti parish, where he replaced Father Giovanni Bonelli. In 1990, Father Feccia became director of the Villa Scalabrini in California where he served until 1998.

Father Feccia arrived in Windsor in 1998 to serve as a pastor of St. Angela Merici parish. In 1999, one year after his arrival, Feccia helped found the Scalabrini Charities for the Poor Foundation which provides financial assistance to impoverished families in Mexico, India, and the Philippines.
