Gino Sovran was Basketball Team Captain, 1943-1944,
1944-1945.
He was one of the top scorers in Windsor history, the first player to reach 1000 point total (in three years). He scored in approximately 75% of games played against U.S. teams. In the 1944 - 1945 season, he defeated the Harlem Globetrotters, won 17, lost 6 with 13 consecutive wins to end the season with an averaged 17.1 points per game. In the 1945 - 1946 postseason he joined the Assumption College team that reached the Finals for the Canadian Senior Men's Basketball Championship.
