Besides
economic and social advantages Italian Canadians also enjoy
a degree of political strength. Their participation in political
and cultural life has been increasing in proportion to the
number of their Canadian educated children in the various professions,
the quality of leisure time, and as prejudice and bias in the
larger community decreases.
The
Windsor Italian community is a permanent community. Only
a small percentage has returned to Italy to stay. Most of
them are Canadian citizens. (Walter
Temelini, The Italians in Windsor, Polyphony Vol. 7, No.
2)
The Windsor Italian Canadians are products of two ways of living life; they are
proud of their Italian origin, as much as they are proud of their adopted country.
Italians are contributing in various ways to Canadian life and traditions. |
