La Gazzetta (S.W. Ontario and Michigan, U.S.A.) was
founded in 1972, in the spirit of Canada’s then new policy
of multiculturalism. Its primary goals were to integrate and complement
existing Italian language media; to maintain and share the Italian
language and culture; to keep the Italian community informed with

and international
news (particularly news from Italy, which was generally |
|
overlooked by the mainstream
media or presented in a biased manner); to create a dialogue among
Windsor’s Italians and link the community to the world. Beginning
as a monthly, La Gazzetta became a weekly in 1975, and eventually
added sections covering news from Detroit and suburbs, Sault Ste.
Marie and Thunder Bay. Over the years, numerous local volunteers
contributed in various ways to the life of the newspaper. La gazzetta
stopped publishing in the year 2000. Courtesy of Rita Bison. |
