Antonio Sanguinetti, wine producer has said: "Wine
is culture, wine is history, wine is meeting people, wine is
happiness, wine is friendship".
When Italians immigrated to Canada and settled in the Windsor
region, many brought winemaking skills with them. Many Italian
families in Windsor make their own wine in their basements,
and some have |

even begun to produce wine commercially. |
There are about 13 wineries in the Windsor/Essex
County, many of which are operated by Italians or people of
Italian descent.
