In the winter of 1966 and 1967, a group of men at Fogolar Furlan Club were talking about their military experiences. Those were the Alpini: Elio Nadalin, Aldo Lot, Beniamino D’Angnolo, Antonio Meret, Silvano Scodeller. They founded the club named Gruppo Alpini in May 1967. The Alpini are distinguished by their famous "Capelli con la Penna Nera" (Hats with the Black Feather). The Gruppo Alpini in Windsor was glad to host the 11th Congress of the Alpini in 2001. The Gruppo Alpini has three significant Alpini symbols: Cappello (The Hat) – Piccozza (Mattock) - Stelle Alpine (The Alpine Stars). A monument is built in memory of the Alpini of Windsor.
