Mr. Nick Vitale immigrated to Canada on June 26,
1954. After settling in Windsor, he found work with a produce company
and a few years later, he started his own business as a street
vendor. Mr. Vitale’s business expanded and, in 1960, he began
to supply produce to small restaurants and stores. The business
continued to grow and, in 1973, Nick and his wife, Fina, opened Vitale
Produce. Located at 285 Mercer Street, Vitale Produce was a family
affair. Nick himself
ran the wholesale division with his eldest sons, Bill and Jerry. Fina,
son Frank and daughters Josie and Rosie worked in the City Market
retail section. The company thrived |
