Joe Greco of Greco Aluminum |
|
Joe Greco was ten years old when he came to
Canada with his family, in 1948. The main reason for immigrating
to Canada was his grandfather who had a large farm
in Hazelton, British Columbia. Joe’s father passed
away in 1952 as a result of an accident at work. The
grandfather and his mother had a hard time keeping up
the land so they decided to move to Windsor in 1954
to
be closer to his mother's family, who were living in
the United States.
Joe was 17 years old when he came to Windsor. He bounced
around at different jobs, depending on where the work
and money were. Greco got married in 1959 and in January
1960,
together with his wife, drove out
to British Columbia to work in the forest. He joined his brothers
in acquiring
a job loading logging trucks. |

Greco Aluminum started in 1965/1966. Greco and his wife decided
to come back to Windsor prior to this. The business
began in the basement of his house, repairing doors, screening
and glass work. Late in the 1970s, he moved into construction work
and in 1988 decided to get into the railing business as well.
In 1999, Joe Greco turned the company over to his sons Larry, Frank
and Joey. |
