Bryan Prince was born in Chatham and lives in Buxton.
His family has a long connection with the Underground Railroad.
Bryan is a farmer with a profound interest in the history of the
Underground Railroad. He and his wife Shannon are actively involved
with the Buxton National
Historic Site and Museum as well as with several other historical
organizations.
For close to twenty five years, Bryan has spent countless
hours researching, writing, and lecturing on the topic
of black history. He has contributed articles and short
stories to the museum’s publications and the

Chatham newspaper. In 2002, Bryan was awarded |
|
the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal
for contributions to history. His first book for young adults, ‘I
Came as a Stranger: The Underground Railroad’, was published
by Tundra Books in 2004. Bryan Prince is an active member of the community
in North Buxton where he lives with his wife and their four children. |
