Historian Thomas Carlyle argued that "The history
of what man has accomplished in this world, is at bottom the history
of the Great Men who have worked here." Although history is
not merely the product of actions of politicians, entrepreneurs,
and other prominent persons leaders in many aspects of life do
have a profound effect on their community. The individuals discussed
