Local artist Leslie McCurdy has many job descriptions
including playwright, actor, performance artist, dancer, choreographer,
singer and teacher. McCurdy was born in Windsor. She
has performed as Billy Holiday in the successful production of “Lady
Day” at the Capital Theatre. Her
one-woman show “The Spirit of Harriet Tubman” was an
inspiration. McCurdy wrote the play about the life of the Underground
Railroad heroine and brought the story to life with her moving
performance. She followed up the success of “The Spirit of
Harriet Tubman” with the program “Things my Fore-Sisters
Saw”. Leslie McCurdy has presented “Things
my Fore-Sisters Saw” to many students as an important part of
their study of Canadian history.
