African Canadian women were barred from
attending schools of nursing. The case was taken to the Ontario Human
Rights Commission. In 1948 the first African Canadian women to graduate
from Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor were Colleen L. Campbell and Marian
V. Overton.
