Rodney Davis

Rodney Davis attended Prince Edward Public School, W.D. Lowe and a graduate of the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He is both a passionate labour activist and dedicated community organizer. Mr. Davis has been a C.A.W. Local 444 member for many years. In 1995 he became the Chairperson of the C.A.W. Aboriginal/Workers of Colour Caucus of Windsor and Essex County.

In his role as Caucus Chairperson Rodney Davis has been a leader in organizing the many programs, services and events the Caucus hosted over the last decade. He is particularily dedicated to promoting awareness of the contributions made by African Canadian individuals to the labour movement. Rodney Davis is a National C.A.W. discussion leader. He has also written many articles for The Guardian.

Mr. Davis stepped down as Chairperson in 2004 but continues to be very active in both the Caucus and the community. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the African Canadian Community Centre of Windsor and Essex County and recently organized the A.C.C.C. “Fight Night at the Caboto” event held August 11, 2005. Rodney Davis is the acting President of the Windsor and District Black Coalition.

He is also Vice President of the Board of Directors of New Beginnings a residential rehabilitation program for young offenders. New Beginnings also operates two group homes for boys and girls through the Children’s Aid Society. Phoenix Garden Project is a new and exciting summer project for at risk youth.

Mr. Davis is also the Founder of Sister to Sister - Think W.I.S.E. Sister to Sister is an organization led by women of colour who gather to support and mentor young women in the area. He is also a former Board Member of the North American Black Historical Museum.
